WHAT ARE VITAMIN D3 AND K2?
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that participates in the absorption of calcium and the functioning of many other systems, such as muscle contraction, the nervous system, and the immune system. The D3 form increases the values of this vitamin to a greater extent and for a longer period of time (1)1. Bikle DD. Vitamin D metabolism, mechanism of action, and clinical applications. Chem Biol. 2014 Mar 20;21(3):319-29..
Despite its importance, a significant part of the population is deficient in this nutrient, mainly due to insufficient sun exposure. Among other factors, this can be attributed to latitude, the use of sun creams, and the type of clothing worn during the daytime (2)2. Holick MF. The vitamin D deficiency pandemic: Approaches for diagnosis, treatment and prevention. Rev Endocr Metab Disord. 2017 Jun;18(2):153-165.
Vitamin K2 has a synergistic effect with vitamin D that helps improve bone mineralization, and plays an important role in blood coagulation (3)3. Capozzi A et al. Calcium, vitamin D, vitamin K2, and magnesium supplementation and skeletal health. Maturitas. 2020 Oct;140:55-63..
WHY THIS FORMAT?
Our vitamin D3 comes from the lanolin in sheep’s wool, which is the best source of vitamin D.
As it is a fat-soluble vitamin, we supply it in liposomal form, that is, together with a source of fat, thus favoring its absorption (4)4. Maurya VK et al. Vitamin D microencapsulation and fortification: Trends and technologies. J Steroid Biochem Mol Biol. 2020 Feb;196:105489..
2000 IU of vitamin D is within the recommended dosage for raising the amount of this micronutrient without exceeding the tolerable upper intake level (UL) established by the EFSA.
The dose of 100μg of K2 is in accordance with available scientific evidence for the optimization of bone mineralization (5)5. Iwamoto J et al. Treatment with vitamin D3 and/or vitamin K2 for postmenopausal osteoporosis. Keio J Med. 2003 Sep;52(3):147-50..
Softgel capsules assure the dissolution of the product in the section of the intestine where it is most effectively absorbed.
BENEFITS OF VITAMIN D3
According to current scientific research, increasing vitamin D3 levels to optimal ranges has numerous benefits:

- Prevention of heart disease
- Reduced incidence of depression
- Immune system support
- Reduced risk of type II diabetes
- Improved muscle function
